Basic Budget to Survive in Pattaya

What would be the basic cost of surviving by the month in the surrounding area of Pattaya be with a no sex drugs rock and roll lifestyle 2 bed condo with land line and a motorbike for transport.

Right now it's really good cost wise since tourism is really down. Not good for the Thais or people who have businesses geared towards tourism, but very good for you if you have some money and want to spend some time in Thailand / Pattaya.

I have heard of Landlords in Jomtien who cut the rent in half. 50% off (so that they have at least some money come in).

A Motorbike by the month (fully automatic) should cost you around 3,000 Baht plus gasoline.

Phone land line (Depends on if a line already exists or if you have to bring one in).

You may want to look for a place that already has a land line. Usually it's somewhere around 4,000-5,000 Baht to bring in a new line with TOT.

If you use it for the internet you may be able to get wireless for 400-700 Baht a month (mama wifi).

Internet access with a land line is around 1,000 baht a month.

How much you need for food depends on what and where you eat. A meal at a Thai food stall is about 30 Baht.

Depending on how long you stay you will also have to figure in the "visa run" cost.

What I would do is rent a hotel for a few days in Pattaya and then go hunting for a condo.

I looked yesterday and it seems that there are some really nice inexpensive places to rent.
