Can Anyone Do This?

How can someone like me get there in less than 1 year without any prior knowledge of online marketing, HTML, SEO, Java scripts, copy writing, and all that "techie stuff"?

If you would have told me a little over a year ago that my web site would be in the top 1 percent of all web sites on planet earth in less than 1 year, I would probably think you are a little bit challenged, mentally.

I am not even a good typist. I didn't know more about the net than "surfing" and maybe watch a couple of Youtube videos. Well, I did know how to send an email and how to use a messenger.

My Past Life

I had my own business as a General Contractor. I remodeled houses. 3-4 houses at a time. I had 2 Pick-up trucks, 1 cargo trailer full of tools, 1 huge flatbed trailer (We used to call it "the Monster"), 1 dump trailer, a storage shed full of tools, and a large yard packed with building materials. Now all I have is a laptop (fits nicely into a little bag pack).

I don't even use a cell phone anymore. What a relieve! I used to have 5 cell phones for me and my employees. The overhead was just unbelievable and overhead keeps you working, I know that from experience. My overhead is 0 now.

My phone bill alone was around $ 500.00 a month. Insurance for my business was $ 1,000 a month and sometimes more. Add to this, gas, office, a General Manager, a secretary, an Accountant, a bookkeeper, employees, purchase of tools (you always need more), and all kind of other expenses. I get dizzy just thinking about it.

I managed to work 7 days a week/12-16 hours a day, gain weight, smoke a lot, drink (after work), be stressed out, and I walk around with grey hair now.

You got to ask yourself; what and why am I doing this? I had no life. All my friends were Contractors and in the same boat (same prison cell).

The Holy Grail

Creating a web site, a profitable one, is kind of the Holy Grail. Who wouldn't want to be able to work from home or even from anywhere in the world at this point in time. There are hardly any places anymore where there is no internet access.

Even if there is no access to the net you can always work on the laptop, wherever you are.

Is It Easy To Build An Online Business?

No, it's hard work. Building a business is never easy, but it gets easier. There is no quick rich method (if you know of one I don't want to know). Every business takes focus, determination, self motivation, and a short and long term plan.

I had this idea of having an online business in my mind for years but didn't have the "know how". I tried a few of those silly things that end up in your email inbox (you know them) and just wasted my time and money.

It Seemed Unfair

I have a friend who lives in a nice house in the mountains, works at home, no commute, no overhead, no trailers, trucks, no building material in front of his house, and he plays golf.
