Some Pattaya resorts and hotels charge some pretty scary prices!

The great thing about Pattaya is that you find Pattaya Guesthouses, hotels, resorts, apartments for any and all budgets.

Arriving in Pattaya without advanced booking? You may have to look a little harder especially during high season.

Can you can spend 550 Baht? Then I would suggest you start with Apex Hotel.

The reason I suggest the Apex Hotel is because of its central location. If you are just arriving from the airport you may want to kick back in an Air Con room for a while.
It's on 2nd Road close to Mike's Shopping Mall.

If they don't have a room available ask if you can leave your gear at the reception so you can explore Pattaya. You will find small hotels and Pattaya Guesthouses everywhere.

Friendly Guest House on Soi Sahasak which is between Soi Diana and Soi Honey Inn, off 2nd Road.
Rooms are 400 Baht with Air Con and clean rooms.
Legless Arms has 8-9 rooms, very clean, good service. 400 baht per night. Soi Yamoto next to Soi Post Office, 1 block from Royal Garden Shopping Center.
Paillin House Soi lenkee, off Soi Buakhao

Eventhough you may be searching for Pattaya Guesthouses, hotels can be just as inexpensive. Hotels offer more privacy but if you are looking to meet fellow travellers a Guesthouse is probably right for you.

From December to February is the busiest time in Pattaya and it may be difficult to easily find a suitable Hotel without advanced booking.

Here is a Map of Pattaya, Jomtien and Naklua. If you take a couple of hours and walk the area around 2nd Road, Soi Buakhao and 3rd Road you should find suitable Pattaya Guesthouses.
You can also ask at apartment complexes for daily rates.

A very nice clean Place is on 3rd Road across from Xcyte disco. It's called Silver Place. Very nice, clean, great service, safe and prices vary depending on which floor you stay on. No elevator. 400-650 Baht.

Give yourself a day's time and you sure will find something right for your budget and likes. If you are planning on bringing a friend home to spend the night with you...just ask to make sure they won't charge you extra. Some places ask visitors to leave their ID at the reception.

You may also want to explore Jomtien and Naklua if you prefer quieter areas. The link above to the Map of Pattaya, Jomtien and Naklua will be of great help.
There are rooms for rent in Soi Chaiyapoon that advertise for 150-200 Baht but I don't know much about them. Good Luck!
