Steve Kimbell. Visa question. 3 month return ticket

by Steve Kimbell
(UK)

Hello,

will you please tell me something regarding the visa situation. I will be arriving in Thailand and intend to stay there with you as I have done in the past .

I have been reading the latest visa information. I have pasted below some of it for you to read. Does this mean that I simply have to leave every 30 days. Or does it mean I can not enter if my flight tickets are for more than 30 days.

I have a 3 month return to the UK you see. I will really appreciate your help with this as I don't want to get into any trouble with Immigration. Thank you, Steve Kimbell . Reservation confirmation pending.

Do You Need A Visa For Thailand And What Are The Thailand Visa Requirements?

Whether you need a visa depends on how long you are planning to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand and what nationality you are.

The majority of foreigners entering the Kingdom without a visa will receive a stamp in their passport which is a permission to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for 30 days.

30 day visas now only 15 days. Read more.....
Aliens entering the Kingdom of Thailand with no visa must present a confirmed ticket or travel documents to exit the Kingdom and must not exceed 30 days upon the entrance of the Kingdom.

Best regards

Steve Kimbell

Hi Steve,

If you are holding a UK passport you will receive 30 day visa exemption at the airport.

If you do not have a visa you will either have to leave Thailand after the 30 days and re-enter or get an extension.

If you fly back into Thailand you will receive another 30 days. Via overland Border checkpoints you will only receive 15 days.

Do yourself a favor and go to a Thai embassy or consulate in the UK and apply for a visa. Most tourist visas are valid for 60 days and you can extent it for 30 days at the local immigration office (cost 1900 Baht).

You could also get a double entry in the UK that way you have 2x 60 days and if you wanted you could get 2 extensions and that means you have 6 months.

You can not get a visa for Thailand in Thailand. Only visa exemptions and extensions.

So, go to the closest Thai embassy in your home country and apply for a visa. Easy to do and will safe you money in the long run.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other question.

Brent

Visa Question

Most people pay a visa run company to go to Vientiane Laos. Takes two day since you apply the first day and pick up your visa the next morning.

The company takes care of everything including hotel and help you fill out the application.

You will pay somewhere around 7-10000 Baht.

One good company is called:

Bri & Joy

For Reservation call
01-86151-76
01-68679-79
01-82711-47

You could also go on your own but you won't save any money if you go on your own but maybe it would be an interesting trip.

You will have your 30 days and when you are here and can get a 15 days extension as well. That gives you enough time you check out other companies if you want. There are many companies here who specialize in "Visa Runs".

If you plan on leaving every 30 days you will get another 30 days when you fly back in and only 15 days via overland checkpoints.

A visa is a much better option. Some people fly To Phnom Phen in Cambodia for a visa or Penang Malaysia depending on where in Thailand they are.

You do have a return ticket so you don't have to worry about that.

I know all of this sounds complicated but unfortunately that is the way it is.

Thanks for the great information. The problem I have is that I cannot get to the embassy to get a visa before I travel as the flight is this Saturday you see.
So will I get a 30 day on entrance and then have to leave every thirty days?

Or does it mean that after the first 30 days I will have to leave every 15 days? Is it a problem that my return to the UK is not until January? Thank you very much, Steve
