Thais address each other by nicknames in a formal situation, with friends or family. Chue-len means play name or nick name. The list beow is not far from being a complete list of Thai names.
Thais will usually introduce themselves to westerners with their nick names. They know that most people will not be able to pronounce or remember a long Thai name.
